Khamzat Chimaev recently fired back at Dricus du Plessis for poking fun at his past injury. The two fighters have been trading barbs in an ongoing exchange of playful jabs on social media.
The back-and-forth began when du Plessis shared photos of himself dragging a massive shark on Easter Cape Beach last Thursday, humorously referring to it as his "new training partner."
In the comments section of his post, a fan lightheartedly remarked that the reigning UFC middleweight champion should not kiss the shark, to which 'Stillknocks' responded with a witty comment, taking a dig at Chimaev's facial scar:

"No way, that’s what Khamzat tried, and look how that turned out."

However, du Plessis' remarks struck a nerve with 'Borz', who countered with a ruthless response of his own:
"Two dead fish in one photo."

'Stillknocks' had expressed a strong interest in making his second defense of the 185-pound title against Chimaev after the undefeated fighter submitted former champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 in October.
However, that highly anticipated showdown has not been booked, as du Plessis is now set to defend his championship against former rival Sean Strickland at UFC 312, scheduled for Feb. 9 at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.
When Dricus du Plessis shut down Khamzat Chimaev's title aspiration after UFC Saudi Arabia withdrawal
Khamzat Chimaev was initially scheduled to headline UFC Saudi Arabia against Robert Whittaker in June, with the bout widely regarded as a potential No. 1 contender matchup. However, just a week before the event, 'Borz' was forced to withdraw due to serious health issues.
During an interview with Submission Radio in July, Dricus du Plessis expressed his frustration that the fight did not come to fruition at that time. 'Stillknocks' further pointed out that Chimaev has yet to face any ranked middleweight contenders, making his claim for a title shot unjustified:
'"I’ve been on that side of the area of not being able to fight, and it sucks. Right now, it just doesn’t even make sense to talk about it. He hasn’t fought one single ranked middleweight, not one, and to even put him in that conversation right now seems like we’re wasting time talking about it. He’s not in the run, and up until he proves that he deserves to be in that run, there’s no use in talking about it."
