Khamzat Chimaev has voiced his confidence ahead of his highly anticipated fight against Robert Whittaker at UFC 308. Initially set for June, the middleweight showdown will now take place this weekend in Abu Dhabi.

Chimaev has been relatively inactive in recent years due to health issues. However, he remains unbeaten and is determined to remind fans of his dominance against the former middleweight champion.

Following his recent knockout victory over Ikram Aliskerov in June, Whittaker is once again in the mix for title contention. Chimaev believes he's ready to stop Whittaker in his tracks.

In a UFC fight preview video, Chimaev stated:

“This version of Robert Whitaker been one of the best guys. But now it's my time to beat him. I can catch anyone with my takedown. Will be hard for him… I’m going to finish this guy, he’s not hungry like me. He's not that kind of fighter like me. It’s a big difference.”

Khamzat Chimaev opens up on illness that led to fight cancellation in June

Khamzat Chimaev has shed light on the mysterious illness that forced him to pull out of his fight against Robert Whittaker in June. The bout, scheduled for the inaugural UFC event in Saudi Arabia, was expected to be a major event, but Chimaev’s health took an unexpected turn just days before the fight, leaving him unable to compete.

In the UFC 308 Countdown preview, Chimaev detailed his battle with the illness, which baffled both him and his medical team. Despite following the same diet as his team, he was the only one affected:

"We was in training camp, the first month was very good, the last three weeks, my immunity goes down. I don’t know what happened. All the guys ate the same food [but] only me got sick. I was in the hospital for a couple of days. I came out and started training again and the same s**t happened again. The doctor said to me, ‘You need to just be off from the gym and not training, not doing nothing...' I went home to the mountains.”
