Khamzat Chimaev is "not going to take me down," says Bo Nickal about potential UFC fight: "The longer the fight goes, the worse it's going to get"

Bo Nickal appears confident in his chances against Khamzat Chimaev, who recently stated that 'Borz' will be unable to take him down due to his wrestling prowess. Nickal also stated that the 31-year-old would eventually tire after failing in his continuous pursuit of a takedown.

Both Nickal and Chimaev have an undefeated UFC record and are well-known for their wrestling backgrounds. Many in the MMA community have pondered how a bout between the two might unfold because of their exceptional ground game.

In a recent conversation with UFC Hall of Famer Chael Sonnen on his YouTube channel, Nickal expressed his thoughts on facing Chimaev in a potential fight:

''I think that he's [Chimaev] good, he's got skills but his biggest thing that's going to crush him especially in a fight against me is, dude you're going to get tired. You're going to go like this (gestures with his hand down) and I'm going to go like this (gestures with his hand up) as the fight goes on and you know, you're not going to take me down which is your best attribute.''

Nickal continued:

''So you're going to have to strike with me. I'm probably going to be able to take you down. Maybe I don't hold you down on the ground forever but I can hold you down there for a little bit and the longer the fight goes, the worse it's going to get.''

As for their MMA outings, Nickal is now 4-0 in the organization, having picked up a unanimous decision win over Paul Craig in his most recent fight at UFC 309.

Meanwhile, Chimaev has solidified himself as next in line for UFC gold after a dominant first-round victory against Robert Whittaker at UFC 308.

Chael Sonnen wants to see Bo Nickal vs. Khamzat Chimaev

Chael Sonnen recently expressed his surprise that the UFC has not yet scheduled Bo Nickal vs. Khamzat Chimaev.

Sonnen spoke to Daniel Cormier on the Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast and voiced his wish to see the two undefeated middleweights fight, saying:

''I've got to get Bo Nickal and Chimaev I can't keep these guys separated forever. You know we're told that we don't get to see this fight because of the discrepancy in the rankings...Chimaev's undefeated, Bo's undefeated, Chimaev's good with the wrestling, Bo's good with the wrestling, Chimaev's got a bunch of fan that's up and coming as a future title contender, check and check for Bo. I don't know why are we keeping them apart when we got guys under contract make the fight."
