Reigning UFC light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira has earned a reputation for making dramatic weight cuts throughout his career. While he's no longer cutting down to 185 pounds, recent behind-the-scenes footage from UFC 307 showed Pereira struggling to hit the 205-pound limit for his fight against Khalil Rountree Jr.
Although Pereira had previously cut as much as 45 pounds to reach middleweight, the footage shows the champion battling the scales in preparation for his latest defense.

Jake Paul is confident he would defeat UFC champion Alex Pereira in a boxing match
Jake Paul is setting his sights on a potential showdown with UFC light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Paul, who has made waves by defeating several former UFC fighters since his 2020 boxing debut, expressed his confidence in overcoming Pereira in a recent interview.
Pereira, fresh off a title defense against Khalil Rountree Jr. at the Delta Center, faced one of his toughest challenges yet. While the Brazilian's performance earned him another title defense, Paul remains unconvinced.
Speaking to Adin Ross, Paul said:
"One thousand percent I would beat him. That’s the thing, Rountree actually kind of exposed that he doesn’t have a high volume output. He doesn’t like body shots. In MMA, Pereira would rip my head off. But boxing is a completely different sport, and the pace of it, and the style of it."
He added:
"He has holes. I mean, Rountree rocked him, hurt him a couple of times to the body, but didn’t follow up on it. So if anything, this fight showed me, yes, Alex Pereira is great. But I know I would beat him in a boxing match, and I still would love to make that happen. Pressure is on him. If he can find his way out of the UFC contract like Nate Diaz did, then eventually him and I can talk."
