Zhilei Zhang has recieved another callout, this time from Derek Chisora.
'Big Bang' famously returned to the ring last month for his rematch with Joe Joyce. Just months after scoring an upset win over then-undefeated 'Juggernaut', Zhang did it again. This time, he cracked the heavyweight's chin in the third round.
Following the knockout win, the WBO interim champion called to face Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk. However, 'The Gypsy King' and 'The Cat' are booked for a December fight. Furthermore, Zhang's management later revealed that their other ideal options also likely won't come to fruition.
That has likely led to a spirited callout from Derek Chisora. In a recent interview with Boxing Social, 'Del Boy' called out Zhilei Zhang. For his part, Chisora is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Gerald Washington in August.

That victory was enough for the longtime title contender to make the callout. In the interview earlier this month conducted alongside Eddie Hearn, Chisora said:
"Zhang, make it happen. You've still got the power to make things happen. That's my boy... I'll f******* knock him out [when I fight him]."

Frank Warren pitches other bout for Zhilei Zhang
Zhilei Zhang's promoter, Frank Warren, has eyes on a different bout than Derek Chisora.
The Chinese boxer's back-to-back wins over Joe Joyce gave his career a second lease on life. If there's anyone who is more thrilled about the situation than 'Big Bang' himself, it's Frank Warren.
Queensbury Promotions has represented the interim champion for years and were likely the last expecting him to become a star. Still, that's exactly what's happened. Zhang is widely seen as one of the best on the planet and has recently been seen meeting with names such as Shaquille O'Neal and others.
It seems that Frank Warren believes now is the time to capitalize on that momentum. Speaking to Boxing Social, the promoter discussed the possibility of Zhilei Zhang vs. Deontay Wilder. 'The Bronze Bomber' is currently unbooked but in talks with Anthony Joshua.
However, with talks with 'AJ' looking rough, Wilder might want to target Zhang instead. In the interview, Warren said:
“That’s a great fight, I wouldn’t have a problem making that fight. Let’s see what happens. Well see, we’ll see. Zhilei’s with us and he’s made a massive impact and at the moment is mandatory for the WBO version of the title so he’ll be wanting to get his mandatory and get his shot at the title. In the meantime, he will fight, and whether that’s Deontay or not we’ll see.”
