Laura Sanko, Stephen Thompson many others in the MMA community took notice of a UFC fighter choking out his friend in order to settle a poker debt of $5000. The incident sparked a variety of responses, the majority of which were humorous and focused on how silly men can be at times.
For context, the person in question is Chris Weidman, who attempted a rear-naked choke on his friend after the latter agreed to it as a result of losing a poker game. The person chose to be strangled by Weidman rather than pay $5,000. The UFC veteran posted the video to social media, writing:
''He Lost in poker last night. It was either pay 5k or get choked unconscious! What do you do ?''

As for the MMA scene, Weidman made his 20th UFC appearance in the last pay-per-view event of the year, UFC 310, where he took on Eryk Anders and suffered a second-round knockout defeat.
Chris Weidman slams the UFC for refusing him fight money
Chris Weidman was set to face Eryk Anders at UFC 309, however, Anders pulled out of the fight due to food poisoning.
Weidman claimed that since he attended the bout, he should have received the fight purse and chastised the UFC for not doing so during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show last month.
''My show money is my win money. I have guaranteed money. So that was my point, like, I showed up, you guys had that on the budget sheet to begin with, you guys had a great night, why do you guys get to keep that money and I don’t? That was my thought.''
