Leon Edwards is starting to weigh his options for future opponents now that he’s the UFC welterweight champion.

Edwards is intrigued by a Jorge Masvidal matchup because ‘Gamebred’ famously attacked 'Rocky' backstage at UFC London in 2019. Although there is a built-in storyline, convincing fans that the Miami native deserves a title shot after three straight losses is tricky.

Meanwhile, Edwards sees McGregor as an opportunity to make money and defend the title. 'The Notorious' is planning a return to the octagon at 170 pounds. The welterweight champion will likely take on Usman in the rematch next. If ‘Rocky’ emerges victorious, he has several options for opponents to score a massive payday.

During an interview with Sky Sports, Edwards had this to say about potentially fighting Conor McGregor and Masvidal:

“Conor would be one that would be easy to make. We’re managed by the same management team… If it’s the No. 1 contender then that’s what it is and if Masvidal can go out and get a big win then that’s a fight I want. I even said it, I’ll give him the belt before that though he doesn’t deserve it. I was acting off emotions. But whoever comes. The No. 1 contenders or the money fights, for me it doesn’t matter.”

Edwards shocked the world when he dethroned Kamaru Usman. Now that ‘Rocky’ is the welterweight king, he’s taking control and calling the shots on who he wants to fight.

Leon Edwards believes Arnold Allen will be the next UFC champion out of the U.K.

Leon Edwards becoming the welterweight champion provided hope to other U.K. fighters. Now that Tom Aspinall is out with a leg injury, Arnold Allen has emerged as the top candidate to become the next U.K. champion. ‘Rocky’ went on Twitter and advocated for Allen by saying this:

“The next UK champ"

Allen holds a 9-0 record in the UFC but could struggle to get a push from the promotion due to his relaxed personality. ‘Almighty’ will now be taking on Calvin Kattar in a contender matchup on October 29 that could put him in the title shot discussion with a win.
