Liam Harrison plays matchmaker, says Elias Mahmoudi should fight for interim flyweight Muay Thai gold against Kongthoranee

Veteran British striker Liam Harrison suggested that streaking flyweight Muay Thai fighters Elias Mahmoudi and Kongthoranee Sor Sommai should battle for the currently vacant flyweight world title then have the winner take on former divisional king Rodtang Jitmuangnon. 'Hitman' shared this as he answered an Instagram post from ONE Championship on what is next for Mahmoudi following his impressive KO victory over Denis Puric at ONE Fight Night 26: Lee vs. Rasulov on Dec. 6 at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

He mentioned that while Rodtang awaits final word on his long-planned kickboxing showdown against Japanese legend Takeru Segawa, it would be better for things to move on in the flyweight Muay Thai division.

Harrison wrote in the comments section:

"Fight for the vacant title vs. Kongthoranee whilst Rodtang is waiting to fight Takeru.. that way the division doesn't get held up and Rodtang can fight the winner when he comes back to Muay Thai rules."

A suggestion from 'Hitman'

The ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title was rendered vacant after Rodtang was stripped of the world title for missing weight in his last title defense in November against Englishman Jacob Smith. While he emerged victorious in the contest, he was not eligible to win back the title as part of his penalty.

Meanwhile, like Elias Mahmoudi, Kongthoranee was also a big winner at ONE Fight Night 26, dominating fellow Thai fighter Nakrob Fairtex by decision in their flyweight Muay Thai clash.

Elias Mahmoudi and Kongthoranee continue to roll at ONE Fight Night 26

Elias Mahmoudi and Kongthoranee Sor Sommai continued to roll at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6 and stamped their emerging force status in the flyweight Muay Thai division with impressive victories in their respective matches.

Mahmoudi rolled to his third straight victory by coming up with a clutch KO win over Denis Puric in their catchweight showdown. He made a late charge to overwhelm his opponent and stop the 'Bosnian Menace' with two seconds remaining in the fight. It was his fifth win in seven matches since making his ONE Championship debut in January 2019.

For his part, Kongthoranee dominated Nakrob Fairtex in their flyweight joust on his way to back-to-back victories that took his overall record in ONE to 10-2.
