‘Hitman’ Liam Harrison wants his knee fixed ASAP as he clings to the hope of fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the future.
The British Muay Thai star was caught in a whirlwind of breaking news when boxing Hall of Famer Floyd Mayweather said he was facing Harrison in an exhibition fight in the UK on February 25. Within an hour, Harrison immediately shut it down, citing a knee injury as the reason why he can’t take the fight.
Mayweather has now found a new opponent in retired MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers at London’s O2 Arena. Following the announcement, ‘Hitman’ congratulated the retired boxer on his Instagram while revealing the date for his next surgery:
“Glad Floyd’s found a new opponent. Got my knee surgery next week, so I’ll be 100 percent ready and waiting the next time he wants to come back and fight on these shores #boxing #muaythai #padwork @darrellkendall_”

Liam Harrison updates fans on debilitating knee injury
In a recent Instagram story, Liam Harrison opened up to his fans about how difficult the last few months have been for him and his health.
Last year, the British slugger saw two major fights at ONE Championship. He stopped Muangthai PK. Saenchai with a first-round knockout after miraculously recovering from two major knockdowns.
He later went after the bantamweight Muay Thai belt last August, but fell to the defending world champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao in the first round.
As someone who enjoys fighting as much as he does, this knee injury has been a major setback. Liam Harrison sent the following update to his fans on his Instagram story:
“Got my operation on Monday and I honestly can’t f****** wait. I’ve been depressed I’m not gonna lie to ya, it’s been f****** awful. I got excited of the week when the Floyd fight came around and when I started jumping in my training, I thought I’d be alright cause it's just boxing, I don’t need to have my knee for what I need to do for that fight. And that just showed me actually how limited I actually am at the minute, on what I can and can’t do, and it’s f****** grinding on me now, but the operation is on Monday and then, well hopefully, a couple of months back in, then we can get back to where we left off.”
