In a recent Instagram video post, ‘Hitman’ shared why he would not transition to MMA in response to many who are encouraging him to go into it.

Liam Harrison said:

“I wouldn’t ever go into MMA. I’m not arrogant enough to think that my style would be perfect for MMA.”

The veteran fighter said that he believes that if he ever goes to mixed martial arts he would only be “obliterated” because he is simply not programmed for the discipline and everything that goes with it.

As a striker, Liam Harrison has had a long and established career that has taken him to different parts of the world to fight in various tournaments and organizations.

In 2018, he made his ONE Championship debut and has steadily become one of the top and most explosive fighters in the bantamweight Muay Thai division. He vied for the world title against reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai king Nong-O Hama last August but was, unfortunately, unable to finish it after injuring his knee midway through the opening round. ‘Hitman’ intends to continue with his ONE Championship journey once his injury fully heals.

Liam Harrison doesn’t see himself winning Openweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix

British fighter Liam Harrison does not see himself competing in ONE Championship’s planned Open Muay Thai World Grand Prix this year. He highlighted that it was important for him to preserve his body, especially coming off an injury.

While he is not exactly one shying away from challenges, 'Hitman' shared to The MMA Superfan that he knows where his body is at the moment and does not want to risk any more damage against bigger opponents.

Liam Harrison, who is competing in the bantamweight division, said:

“I’d end up getting killed. I know that some of the guys out there are all for this and that, but just coming back from injury, I’m a little bit older as well.”

He added:

“I wanna preserve my body for as long as I can and now I gotta fight some giants like that. I don’t see how I can beat Regian Eersel or Sinsamut or some of the guys. They are literally twice my size and them guys hit like absolute trucks.”

Harrison is recovering from a knee injury, which he suffered in his previous fight last August. He lost to reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama.

Despite the loss, 'Hitman' remains one of the top fighters in his division, currently fourth in the rankings.
