ONE bantamweight Muay Thai star Liam Harrison recently had a controversial take when he went on record to say that ONE Championship's Muay Thai division is more exciting than the UFC.
Needless to say, this highly subjective take by 'The Hitman' drew a lot of discussion from the internet fight community. Still, the fighting Englishman stood by his opinion and even provided the necessary footage to support his claim.
Here's the video:
"Caused an absolute riot on Twitter cos I said @onechampionship Friday muaythai fights are more entertaining than UFC…I stand by my word this madness is every single Friday #onechampionship"

The footage was from one of the battles featured in ONE Friday Fights, a weekly ONE Championship show that consistently produces knockouts. If "excitement" means KO finishes, then we can make the argument that ONE Championship is the most exciting fight promotion in the world today.
The Asian Martial Arts organization consistently produces more knockouts than any other fight league today, including the UFC. ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong went on the record to say that ONE has an incredible 70% finishing rate.
Apart from the sluggers in their MMA line-up, ONE has an all-striking roster that includes the largest pool of Muay Thai and kickboxing world champions the world has ever seen.
On top of the sheer number of knockout artists on their roster, ONE consistently holds numerous events, more than most. This includes their major events, the famous ONE Fight Night series, and the aforementioned weekly ONE Friday Fights. There might be some truth to what Liam Harrison said.
Liam Harrison recounts how fight deal with Floyd Mayweather Jr. came to be then fell through
Liam Harrison made the rounds in the media a few weeks back when his name was attached to boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. Apparently, 'The Hitman' was slated to box 'Money' in an exhibition bout at the O2 Arena in London, England. Shortly after the fight was announced, however, Harrison pulled out and was then replaced by former Bellator fighter and TV personality, Aaron Chalmers.
In a recent interview with LastBSTN, Harrison shared how the match came about and how it ultimately fell through.
Liam Harrison said:
"'Floyd Mayweather Jr's team in interested in fighting you here', and I was like, 'I don't believe you'... And this was a couple of weeks before the fight and then like, the next minute I'm on f****** facetime to Mayweather's manager and he's like, 'right, this is gonna happen', blah blah bla. I just sat there like, open mouthed and be like, 'what on earth is going on here?'"
'The Hitman' continued:
"Obviously I knew my leg were blitzed but I thought 'it's only boxing. Just hands and that. There's no kicking, no twisting. Should be alright'. Jumped into training and stuff like that and thinking 'here we go'. And as soon as I started sparring and having to move around the ring, my leg just ballooned up. I said to my surgeon, 'How am I gonna be able to get through this. It's only boxing, there's no kicking.' He said, 'It's up to you. I'm not gonna tell you what to do. But you might cause irreversible damage that I can't fix."
Liam Harrison heeded his surgeon's warning and pulled out of the bout. He then immediately went under the knife to repair his damaged knee. He's currently in recovery but is in high spirits to make his comeback soon.
