Still recovering from a knee injury he suffered in his last fight, British fighter Liam Harrison is working hard in his recovery to return to solid fighting form.

'Hitman' competed against Muangthai PK Saenchai of Thailand at ONE 156 in April last year. He won by way of an impressive technical knockout in the opening round while the contest earned ONE’s 2022 Muay Thai Fight of the Year award.

In the Muangthai fight, Liam Harrison was already on the brink of defeat as he was dropped twice inside the first 72 seconds of the contest. Just when everybody thought he was ready to fold, the Leeds-raised fighter charged back with power punches to finish in a flurry.

It is this “monster” form that the Bad Company affiliate wants to return to once he completes his rehabilitation. He shared to The MMA Superfan:

“Obviously, the idea is I want to be able to get back to the, I wanna be the type of fighter where I can deliver performances like I did in the Muangthai fight. I wanna be able to deliver that level of excitement, if I think I can’t bring that back then who knows. But I’ve got a very strong mindset. I have full belief in myself. As long as I get on rehab correctly, I think I can go back to what I was.”

Liam Harrison injured his knee after absorbing a kick from reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama in the opening round of their world title clash last August. Unable to continue after, 'Hitman' was forced to take the technical knockout loss.

Despite the defeat, Liam Harrison remains one of the top fighters in his division, currently fourth in the rankings.

Liam Harrison reveals "some of the biggest fights" lined up for him if he didn’t get injured

United Kingdom’s Liam Harrison laments getting injured in his last fight because it has prevented him from returning to action earlier than he had hoped.

'Hitman' injured his knee in his fight against ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama back in August, which has effectively cast aside some of the career plans he had moving forward.

Speaking to The MMA Superfan, Liam Harrison shared that he was tipped to compete in some big fights before the injury scuttled everything:

"Obviously, I had some massive fights for you guys lined up. I spoke to [ONE Championship CEO] Chatri [Sityodtong], and he said I’m gonna fight Pongsiri [PK.Saenchai] in January. He said if I win that, I can fight Nong-O again for the rematch for the title in March and in May, then he asked me to do a catchweight fight with Rodtang [Jitmuangnon]. So they were some of the biggest fights imaginable for me out there."

He also said that he was set to compete outside of ONE Circle, booking an exhibition fight with undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., which never came to fruition.
