Mikey Musumeci has long been championing the battle against performance-enhancing drugs, or PEDs, and believes he can take out those who are using them.
Calling out the athletes who use PEDs as "cheaters", he believes that speaking out against steroids is his moral obligation and duty because although those substances are banned in ONE Championship, they are often accepted as a norm outside the promotion.
And in this case, 'Darth Rigatoni' has always looked to champion others who pride themselves on being clean athletes and seeking progress in the sports.
Musumeci told ONE Championship in a recent interview:

“I’m constantly thinking how I could have a positive effect on society and how I could help people. I do feel like I’m in a very hard sport of jiu-jitsu, where it’s still normalized taking drugs and steroids."
He added:
"Any other sport, baseball, football, soccer, any other sport, this would be ridiculous. But in our sport, ‘Oh, everyone’s on it. It doesn’t matter.’ So I feel like I’m in the position where I’m able to show, yes, there are people on steroids, but not everyone’s on it, and they’re losing to me."
Amazingly, his next opponent would be a fellow natural athlete in ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo, as they are scheduled to clash in the epic U.S. card ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6.
