Ciryl Gane recently dropped a lopsided first-round submission loss to Jon Jones in the main event at UFC 285. The fight started with a low blow from 'Bon Gamin', which called for a temporary halt to the action.
While the low blow did not influence the fight result at UFC 285, it wasn't the first time that Gane had landed an illegal strike. A recent fan-made edit shows the Frenchman landing numerous illegal shots on various opponents throughout his career. Questioning Gane's ethics, the fan wrote:
"Is Ciryl Gane the dirtiest fighter the UFC ever had?"

While Ciryl Gane landed all kinds of banned shots, ranging from eye pokes to knees to downed opponents, rabbit punching (back of the head) seems to be the Frenchman's favorite. Fans didn't fail to notice strikes from 'Bon Gamin' landing flush on the back of the head of Tai Tuivasa and Junior dos Santos. One fan wrote:
"gane is literally a back of the head sniper"
"That tuivasa chop to the back of the head on the KO live was so bad lol no one said anything"

However, others believe the "dirtiest fighter" label should go to UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, whose legendary career has been marred by failed drug tests and also a DQ loss due to an illegal strike. His long reach has also added to numerous eye-pokes throughout his career.
Fans also mentioned Rousimar Palhares, who received a life ban from the UFC for holding on to submissions too long.
When Junior dos Santos called out Ciryl Gane for being a dirty fighter
Junior dos Santos suffered a second-round TKO loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC 256 in 2020. The fight-ending sequence started with a controversial elbow that many saw landing directly on the back of Santos' head.
While Santos didn't accuse Gane of intentionally throwing an illegal strike, the Brazilian also did not deem the strike legal by any means. The former UFC heavyweight champ once again called out 'Bon Gamin' for fighting dirty in the aftermath of the Frenchman's win over Tai Tuivasa last September.
He labeled Gane a "dirty fighter" for landing a heavy strike on the back of 'Bam Bam's head in the finishing sequence. The Brazilian wrote:
"What a dirty fighter this Gane is. Again hitting the back of the head. Nad now what are those “fight experts” will say about it?"
