Lito Adiwang says Jarred Brooks’ bravado is just part of his persona: “A 50 percent reality”

ONE Championship strawweight MMA contender and former Team Lakay standout 'Thunder Kid' Lito Adiwang of the Philippines understands where 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks is coming from.

Brooks is known for his incessant trash talk and ability to get under his opponent's skin. But Adiwang says it's all part and parcel to selling fights and getting fans interested in the backstory.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Adiwang shared his thoughts on 'The Monkey God's microphone skills and knack for cutting promos.

'Thunder Kid' said:

"If I was in that position, my competitive side would also come out in wanting to intimidate my opponent. So I think, there’s a 50 percent reality on what he’s saying in his trash talk and his bravado, and the other 50 is just for show."

Needless to say, Brooks' specialty is talking up a storm to sell his fights, and Adiwang says it's totally understandable, as long as he doesn't cross the line.

That being said, Adiwang wants nothing more than a rematch with Brooks, as he feels he was close to winning their 2021 encounter before he got submitted in the second round.

Only time will tell whether or not Adiwang and Brooks will be able to run it back again in the Circle.

'Thunder Kid' Lito Adiwang believes that 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks' immense popularity now in Asia has a lot to do with how he's able to handle the microphone.

Brooks is known for his creative promos and cut-downs, and Adiwang says it's all part of the game.

'Thunder Kid' told Sportskeeda MMA:

"I think it’s a good way for him to gain more fans and viewers of the promotion, so I’m fine with that. Just as long as he doesn’t cross the line that he shouldn’t like family and whatnot. But I believe he knows that, he’s a smart guy, he knows the things that he says."
