Filipino strawweight MMA sensation 'Thunder Kid' Lito Adiwang of the Philippines was slightly surprised with Jarred Brooks' decision to move up to flyweight.
The 31-year-old Baguio City native thought 'The Monkey God' would have prioritized unifying the ONE strawweight MMA world title first with his ex-Team Lakay teammate 'The Passion' Joshua Pacio before entertaining a move up in weight.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Adiwang shared his thoughts on Brooks' decision to shift to flyweight.

'Thunder Kid' said:
"Yes, I was a bit surprised. But I’m just surprised about the timing of it all. Because that’s what I would probably do as well after getting the belt. But he’s only holding the interim belt and he decided to move up already. So that’s what I was surprised by."
Brooks dropped a disqualification loss to Pacio back in March at ONE 166: Qatar, after dropping the Filipino on his head with an illegal spike. That crowned Pacio the new ONE strawweight MMA world champion in the worst possible way.
The American then returned months later to defeat former Cuban Olympian Gustavo 'El Gladiador' Balart to win the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title in Pacio's absence.
Now, Brooks is getting set to make his flyweight MMA debut in the world's largest martial arts organization.
