ONE strawweight contender Lito Adiwang has some opinions on the upcoming main event of ONE Fight Night 8, where Superlek Kiatmoo9 will look to defend his flyweight kickboxing world championship for the first time.

After winning the vacant title at ONE Fight Night 6 in January, ‘The Kicking Machine’ is set for a huge test in his very next outing.

Competing on the same night and scoring a win over China’s Jiduo Yibu, ONE’s flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon has got his mind set on becoming a two-sport world champion.

On March 24, the two elite strikers will compete against one another in the main event, live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium and broadcast live for North American viewers via Prime Video.

The fight is a fantastic clash of styles and Lito Adiwang believes that the defending champion needs to be smart and avoid engaging in a war with Rodtang if he wants to get his hand raised at the end of the night.

Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda MMA, Adiwang said:

“I think this fight will truly be an exciting fight with both fighters throwing some hard shots. But I also feel that Superlek could play smart in this game especially since this is in kickboxing. Superlek will do a hit-and-run approach here I think. I feel that’s his way to get the win here.”

Superleak teases potential rematch with Ilias Ennahachi at bantamweight

At ONE Fight Night 6 in January, Superlek Kiatmoo9 claimed the vacant flyweight kickboxing world championship with his unanimous decision win over Spain’s Daniel Puertas.

Live from the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, ‘The Kicking Machine’ showed what he is capable of with a dominant performance against a late notice replacement opponent.

The Thai striker was scheduled to face off against defending champion Ilias Ennahachi. The titleholder decided to vacate his world championship due to his concerns with making the weight limit.

Puertas stepped up into the vacant title fight having previously been scheduled to face Rodtang Jitmaungnon who will now challenge for the flyweight kickboxing crown at ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24.

In an interview with ONE Championship, the current flyweight kickboxing king said that he would still like to compete with Ennahachi later down the road:

“I still want to fight him. But it's a matter of the future. Because I probably won’t stay in this division forever. Someday, I might move up to the bantamweight division like him. And then, we can face each other again.”

He added:

“I met him at the hotel after I returned from the hospital after my fight (against Daniel Puertas). But each of us was busy signing shirts for our fans. So, we didn’t have a chance to talk.”
