ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci may be one of the most dangerous men on the mats. But outside of it, he is one of the warmest and friendliest humans you'll ever meet. 'Darth Rigatoni' advocates for kindness and respect to set a bright example for the next generation.
You can watch any fan, media, and fellow athlete interaction Mikey Musumeci has, and you can tell that this man may be an actual angel. In his most recent outing at ONE Fight Night 10, a rear-naked choke win over IBJJF No.1-ranked Roosterweight blackbelt Osamah Almarwai, Musumeci immediately showed respect towards his fallen foe:
"Bound by respect 🙏 Who’s next for “Darth Rigatoni?” 🤔 @mikeymusumeci"

What a beautiful moment of humanity between two warriors who left everything on the line. In the end, however, it was a dominant display of grappling wizardry by Musumeci, who constantly put Almarwai on the defensive until he got the finish.
Musumeci, had already scored two submission attempts in just the first two minutes of the bout. The self-proclaimed Jiujitsu nerd shifted from excruciating leglocks to pressure passing from top position. Once he took half-guard top, 'Darth Rigatoni' smoothly passed to back control like silk.
While controlling his Yemeni foe's back, Mikey Musumeci trapped one of his arms inside the body triangle. From there, the ONE flyweight king clasped a rear-naked choke. Left with nothing but one arm to mount any defense, Almarwai had no other choice but to tap out.
Mikey Musumeci is starting to clean up his weight class with another strong win over a highly-ranked former world champion. Not only was the victory a successful world title defense, it also successfully got 'Darth Rigatoni' a sweet $50,000 performance bonus, his second in the promotion.
