Jonathan Haggerty is looking absolutely shredded ahead of his highly anticipated return to the circle this April.
Haggerty, a former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, will step up to the bantamweight division for a showdown with the division’s reigning titleholder, Nong-O Hama. The two world-class strikers will square off on April 21 in the ONE on Fight Night 9 on Prime Video main event.
Less than 60 days out from their massive Muay Thai showdown, ‘The General’ is looking ripped and ready to go in a recent post on Instagram.
“I got one shot at this! I’m ready to sacrifice it all and take what’s mine.”

Haggerty will go into the bout on a three-fight win streak. Two of those victories came in the flyweight division, but after a few struggles to safely make weight, ‘The General’ opted to move up to bantamweight where he scored a win over Vladimir Kuzmin at ONE on Prime Video 4 in November.
Jonathan Haggerty’s opponent needs no introduction. Perhaps the greatest Muay Thai fighter alive today, Nong-O is an absolute legend in the art of eight limbs with 265 career victories, including 10 straight wins inside the circle.
Nong-O kicked off the promotion’s ONE Friday Fights series at the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium with a third-round knockout of Alaverdi Ramazanov to retain his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship.
Jonathan Haggerty still eyeing transition to mixed martial arts
Since making his ONE Championship debut in 2019, Jonathan Haggerty has established himself as one of the best fighters in Muay Thai. If things go according to plan, ‘The General’ will take his skills to the world of MMA before hanging up his gloves.
Speaking with SCMP MMA, Haggerty confirmed that he has every intention of trying his hand at MMA, but couldn’t offer a timeline or potential opponent when the time comes:
“Yeah, a hundred percent... Definitely. We’d have to wait and see. Like I said, I don’t want to call anyone out. One by one, I’ll tick them off. Who knows?”
With ONE Championship’s groundbreaking mixed-rules matchup, there is potential for Jonathan Haggerty to dip his toe into mixed martial arts first through a superfight combining both Muay Thai and MMA.
ONE flyweight world champions Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Demetrious Johnson famously competed in the promotion’s first-ever mixed-rules bout at ONE X in March last year. Johnson earned a second-round submission, handing ‘The Iron Man’ his first loss under the ONE Championship banner.
