Liam Harrison is on the road to a return to the ring… Well, at least half of his body is.

The ONE bantamweight Muay Thai fighter recently had surgery on his knee and is on the shelf for the time being. He had to pull out of two fights earlier this year due to lingering knee problems, first against Pongsiri PK. Seanchai at ONE Fight Night 6, and more recently out of a boxing fight with Floyd Mayweather.

'The Hitman' posted a video and photo to his Instagram of him exercising his upper with his leg in a brace. Take a look:

While many would take “recovery from surgery” as an excuse to stay horizontal, Liam Harrison is doing all that he can to hasten his return to action.

At 37 and having over one hundred Muay Thai fights in his career, Harrison has certainly accumulated plenty of wear and tear on his body. He seems motivated to start a new chapter of his career upon healing, potentially getting back some of the fights that were canceled this year.

The Leeds, England, native has entertained in each of his four appearances in ONE Championship, winning by first-round knockouts in every victory and challenging for Nong-O Hama’s bantamweight world title last summer.

Liam Harrison recalls struggling for breath when fighting outdoors in Thailand

While Liam Harrison has been sitting out, he’s been reminiscing on some of the early years of his Muay Thai career, particularly in life training and fighting in Thailand.

Harrison recently shared this clip from his time on Paddy Pimblett’s podcast Chattin Pony with Paddy the Baddy, where he remembers what it was like to fight outdoors in the muggy, warm air of Thailand:

“So, like a d**khead, I flew over to Thailand only a week before, not acclimatized, didn’t realize we were fighting outside. First two rounds again, I’ve done alright. I remember trying to get my breath, I went *gasp* and my lungs just opened up that much. I went, 'f**k me'... I was sitting down in the corner going, ‘Richard, I’m f**ked, mate. I’m f**ked.’ I couldn’t get my breath at all… When you step off the plane, it’s like that weird, smoggy, breathing in polluted air.”

Liam Harrison’s struggles as a young British Muay Thai fighter in Thailand prepared him to take command of a long and successful career in the sport, picking up eight Muay Thai world championships before signing with ONE.

Fans are certainly hoping Harrison heals as soon as possible to see him back in the ONE Circle before the year’s end.
