Fans reacted to the reports that Oleksandr Usyk prefers to fight Francis Ngannou instead of facing IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois next. Usyk defeated Dubois in 2023 to defend the heavyweight titles. In the meantime, Ngannou has lost to two of Usyk's former opponents - Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Recently, boxing journalist Michael Benson shared on X that Usyk is interested in a fight with Ngannou rather than Dubois. Citing Mik Coppinger as the original source, he wrote:
"Oleksandr Usyk is willing to fight Francis Ngannou next instead of Daniel Dubois. [@MikeCoppinger]"

Ngannou returned to MMA competition following consecutive losses against Fury and Joshua in the boxing realm. In November, he faced Renan Ferreira at the PFL Super Fights - Battle of the Giants event and won by first-round TKO.
Meanwhile, Dubois has been on a three-fight win streak since his 9th-round TKO loss against Usyk in August 2023. In his last outing, the 27-year-old defeated Anthony Joshua by a fifth-round knockout, successfully defending the IBF heavyweight title. Dubois is scheduled to face Joseph Parker in February 2025.

Francis Ngannou made his professional boxing debut against Tyson Fury in October 2023. Despite the significant experience gap, the Cameroonian put up a tough fight, ultimately losing by a narrow split decision. He also scored the only knockdown of the fight.
Since then, Ngannou has been advocating for the rematch and reiterated his desire after Usyk's win over Fury in their Dec. 22 rematch. Usyk won the bout by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the contest 116-112 in his favor. In a recent interview with Pro Boxing Fans, Ngannou said that he would have scored the fight much closer.
When asked to share his thoughts on a potential fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, Ngannou said:
"What I want to see now, is Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou - That's all that matters for me." [2:38]
