The deluge of recognition Oumar 'Reug Reug' Kane's receiving won't stop anytime soon.

The reigning ONE heavyweight MMA world champion was recently given the rank of Knight of Order of Merit in a ceremony with Senegal President Bassirou Diomaye Faye earlier this week.

President Faye led the ceremonies at the country's presidential residence at The Palace of the Republic in Dakar.

Taking to Instagram, Kane said his world title win over Anatoly Malykhin is one of the greatest honors he could've given to his home nation of Senegal.

'Reug Reug' posted that his world title win at ONE 169 in November would be the first of many fulfilled promises to Senegal's younger generation of fighters and athletes.

"Made history for my country 🇸🇳 💪🏿 this is just the beginning. I hope the younger generation aspires to chase their dreams as long as they believe and work hard towards it. It was an honor meeting you Mr. President," he wrote.

Kane is one of the most intimidating pure grapplers in the current MMA scene, and he used his unorthodox wrestling style to carve a stellar 7-1 record in his MMA matches in ONE Championship.

His world title victory over Malykhin in Bangkok also made Kane the first fighter of Senegalese descent to capture an MMA world title in history.

Malykhin, meanwhile, is still in possession of the ONE middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world titles.

Anatoly Malykhin isn't taking his world title defeat to Oumar 'Reug Reug' Kane any lightly.

The reigning ONE middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world champion said in a vlog episode from Red Corner MMA that his world title loss to Kane remains an important lesson in his stellar combat sports career.

Malykhin said:

"Yeah, damn it. Now there’s some work to do. F***! You can only guess how deep I used to fall, but I still managed to come back, found the strength to move forward. It’s just another stage in my life I’ll pass through without lowering my head neither lifting it up."
