WWE recently reached an agreement to merge with the UFC to form a new publicly traded company managed by Endeavor Group. The announcement was made Monday morning following months of speculation that WWE was being sold.

According to the terms of the deal, WWE owners will own 49% of the new combat sports and entertainment firm, while Endeavor would own 51%. The deal values WWE at $9.3 billion and UFC, owned by Endeavor, at $12.1 billion, according to a press release from the businesses.

There are significant contrasts between WWE (professional wrestling) and the UFC (MMA), despite the fact that a merger could be beneficial in the long run for both companies. The Ultimate Fighting Championship is a combat sport involving full-contact fighting, employing a range of martial arts methods, whereas WWE is a type of entertainment that incorporates aspects of professional wrestling, drama, and theater.

A professional wrestling match is usually written and rehearsed in preparation, with results and storylines that are intended to delight the audience. Wrestlers are known to put on theatrical displays, embody a character, dramatic entrance music, and meticulously planned in-ring promos.

In contrast, MMA is a competitive sport in which competitors engage in genuine, unscripted combat inside an octagonal ring. Striking, grappling, and submissions are just some of the tools in a fighter's arsenal as they strive for victory and the ultimate prize, the championship gold.

It's worth noting that while MMA bouts are not scripted, the promotion does have laws in place for the sake of the competitors' safety and the integrity of the sport. Spectacular production values in promos and antagonism-fueled rivalries are all part of the UFC's end product for viewers.

Most of these rivalries, however, originate from genuine dislike. The press conference and promotion is merely a convenient package for the organization's goal of generating excitement among fight fans.

To put it simply, the Ultimate Fighting Championship is a real, unscripted combat sport that features full-contact fighting using a variety of martial arts techniques, while WWE is a scripted form of entertainment that combines elements of professional wrestling, theatrics, and entertainment.

Endeavor's new deal to merge WWE and UFC has been the focus of media attention. The deal would unite two of the largest names in sports entertainment.

The two companies share a lot of parallels in terms of content and culture, despite their obvious distinctions.

UFC flyweight competitor Cody Durden, who is scheduled to face Charles Johnson next, reacted to Dana White's post announcing the merger. He wrote:

"Congrats boss! I can’t wait to jump off a ladder, and put @innergmma through a table!"
