Right now, Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida is living his best life.
The 17-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion is an impressive 4-0 in his mixed martial arts career and is primed for a potential ONE world title opportunity before the year comes to a close.
The South China Morning Post recently caught up with 'Buchecha' to discuss his impressive run in ONE Championship thus far and what he’s been up to since his last appearance inside the circle:
“To be honest, I’m just enjoying life as much as I can. Every moment of my life, inside and outside the circle. That’s what I want to do. I want to train and I want to go there and fight and I want to have fun and enjoy my life. That’s the perfect world for me. I just want to do this and go back to the gym and train and fight. That’s something that makes me happy.”

‘Buchecha’ was last seen at ONE on Prime Video 1 in August, where he earned his fourth-straight victory by way of stoppage. Squaring off with perhaps his toughest test yet in one-time interim world title challenger Kirill Grishenko, Almeida delivered his best performance yet, forcing the Belarusian to tap out in just 64 seconds.

Is ‘Buchecha’ headed to ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5?
When ONE Championship revealed that they would be heading to the United States for the very first time on May 5 for ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, practically every fighter on the roster was clamoring for an opportunity to be part of the historic start.
The event, which is beginning to take shape, will emanate from the 1st Bank Center in Colorado and feature a highly anticipated trilogy bout between ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson and former world titleholder Adriano Moraes.
Though he is not confirmed to be part of the festivities, 'Buchecha' seemingly let the cat out of the bag on Instagram when he teased that he would be fighting alongside his friend Adriano Moraes in the near future:
“Me and @moraesadrianomma during our last camp! Enjoying the ride and every moment of it! Soon we will be battling side by side again inside the @onechampionship circle, I can’t wait!”
In addition to the ONE flyweight world title trilogy bout, ONE Championship has already confirmed that fan favorite Stamp Fairtex will be a part of the event, squaring off with Alyse Anderson.
ONE Fight Night 10 is also available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
