Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida has praised Gantumur Bayanduuren's toughness after he refused to tap in his match against Mikey Musumeci.
The Mongolian displayed a colossal will to win at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video in January. Unfortunately, his refusal to submit led to devastating injuries, which will result in surgery and an extensive layoff from competition.
'Buchecha' applauded Bayanduuren's toughness in an interview with ONE, saying:
“Gantumur is a tough guy. There are few guys who will feel a crack in their leg, see that the ligament has burst, and refuse to tap. He showed that he is a warrior."

Mikey Musumeci had no choice other than to keep pulling on Bayanduuren's leg and trying to force a tap.
'Buchecha' says competing on American soil gives Adriano Moraes extra motivation in trilogy bout
'Buchecha' is excited to see his stablemate, Adriano Moraes, compete at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video in May.
The heavyweight thinks Moraes will be extra motivated to beat 'Mighty Mouse' on American soil. He told SCMP MMA:
"Now, the third fight on American soil. Both live there, so I think that’s like the spice for the story. I think Adriano needed some more motivation. I don’t know if he needed that [loss], but if he needed it, that’s the motivation he needed to go back to the gym to work hard and get his belt back. So, he’s working hard for that and I believe he will get it.]"
Moraes wants nothing more than to regain his flyweight world title and edge out Demetrious Johnson in the third leg of their historic trilogy. The event will serve as the main event for ONE's first card to be hosted in the United States.
Moraes became the first man to finish 'Mighty Mouse' when they met for the first time in April 2021. Then, the American responded by scoring a fourth-round TKO in the rematch, leading to this anticipated trilogy bout.
Make sure to watch ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5 to see Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson battle it out for the third time, live from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. The entire event will be available to watch on Prime Video for North American viewers.
