All-time Brazilian Jiu Jitsu great ‘Buchecha’ Marcus Almeida is simply taking it one day at a time in MMA. While aiming for a world title in ONE Championship, the heavyweight Brazilian grappler is not making huge plans for his future just yet.
The top-ranked heavyweight fighter has gone a perfect 4-0 in the ONE circle with all of his victories being earned in the very first round. ‘Buchecha’ is a threatening grappler who has put the heavyweight division on notice. He made his debut in MMA in 2021 after collecting dozens of world championship titles in submission grappling.
While speaking in an interview with SCMP MMA, the 33-year-old fighter discussed his future plans in MMA. He explained:
"Every day, I give more value for the small things. If I can keep fighting and keep doing this for as long as I can, I’ll be really happy because it’s something that I love."

MMA training is not work for the man because of how much he enjoys it. Almeida continued:
"I don’t call that work because it’s something that I enjoy. This year, it’s not different. That’s what I hope that I can be there and I can happily fight and train healthy. One day after another, that’s it."

When is Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida fighting next?
Dangerous heavyweight grappler Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida does not yet have his next fight booked. He has a timeline in mind though, explaining that he would like to be back in action during the summer.
In the above interview with SCMP MMA, he said:
“I don’t know, they did not say anything about Adriano's [Moraes] card. So I think it’s going to be too soon because they did not say anything yet. They probably have the card ready to go. Anything after that, maybe June or July I hope I can be inside the circle fighting again.”
The Brazilian fighter has a loose timeline prepared, but does he have an opponent in mind? He added:
“To be honest, I see myself as a soldier. They give me the mission and I just go. So I’m not thinking of [anyone] specific.”
The ONE heavyweight world championship will soon be contested at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video booked for March 24 between Arjan Bhullar and Anatoly Malykhin. After that highly anticipated world title match, it is possible that ‘Buchecha’ is next in line.
