ONE heavyweight marvel and 13-time BJJ world champion Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida is one of, if not the most, dangerous grapplers in MMA today. His combination of size, athleticism and world-class jiu-jitsu skills have been a problem that's yet to be solved inside the Circle.
The Brazilian grappling genius is currently 4-0 in his pro MMA career, with all his wins coming by way of stoppage. One of his signature techniques that's been difficult to deal with both in MMA and submission grappling was his patented blast double-leg takedown. In a recent post on Ameida's Instagram page, the 13-time world champion wrote about his trademark double-leg and what makes it so great.

"That good and old Double Leg, timing + precision! That is my best takedowns since my blue belt days, I’m glad it still working pretty good inside the @onechampionship circle! 🙏🏻"
Here's the post:
What's interesting here is the fact that 'Buchecha' has been performing this move and effectively taking his opponents down since he was a bluebelt. For the uninitiated, the bluebelt ranks second above the white belt in Jiujitsu. Beyond the blueblet, there's purple, then brown, then black. What this means is that Almeida has been using the same takedown since he was an intermediate novice up until he's a savage master.
They say that in Jiujitsu, there are no blackbelt moves, only white belt moves done on a blackbelt level. Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida is the perfect example of this adage.
Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida says Anatoly Malykhin's time at the top is almost up
In a recent with YouTube channel MMA Hoje, Almeida spoke about the newly-crowned ONE light-heavyweight and interim heavyweight world champion Anatoly 'Sladkiy' Malykhin. The heavy-handed Russian just snatched his second belt by handing former ONE double-champ Reinier de Ridder his first career loss at ONE on Prime Video 5.
As of this writing, Malykhin is in line to face ONE heavyweight king Arjan 'Singh' Bhullar in a world title unification bout that will determine ONE's undisputed heavyweight king.
In the interview, Almeida praised Malykhin's impressive undefeated run inside the Circle so far. He did, however, insinuate that the clock is ticking on the Russian's time as the interim heavyweight king:
“He’s good in wrestling and very good boxing. Heavy hands, but we didn’t see his jiu-jitsu yet. No one really put his jiu-jitsu to the test yet. But it is what it is. You could be the best in the world. His clock is ticking, I’ll always trust my jiu-jitsu 100 percent.”
Like Malykhin, ‘Buchecha’ is also undefeated in his pro MMA career thus far. While it is still yet to be determined whether or not Malykhin can get past Bhullar, we know Almeida will be waiting in the wings to challenge for the gold soon - regardless of who's holding it at the time.
