Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao has heard his pupil's opponent guarantee a knockout victory at ONE Championship 164, but he isn't buying it. In fact, he asserts that the upcoming strawweight title fight will play out in Pacio's favor.
Reigning and defending ONE strawweight king Joshua Pacio will attempt to make his fourth successful defense against No.1-contender Jarred Brooks.
Brooks has voiced his confidence in the fight's lead-up, and coach Sangiao has heard all of it. However, he told the promotion that the fight wouldn't go the way Brooks believed it will:
"I admire Jarred’s confidence. If he says something, he really goes out of his way to do it. Joshua, however, is the opposite. He’s not much of a talker and he even seems child-like at times. But when he fights, it’s a whole different story. Joshua is not afraid of anybody."

Mark Sangiao added:
"Let’s see if Jarred can keep his promise because I’m telling you, he’s the one getting knocked out. If he stands toe-to-toe with Joshua, he’ll be in for a rude awakening."
Pacio clearly has the knockout ability, having scored four KO/TKO finishes in his 11 ONE victories. Brooks is incredibly durable, but he'll have to mind his p's and q's against someone as formidable on the feet as the champ.
Mark Sangiao says Lito Adiwang is helping Joshua Pacio prepare for Jarred Brooks match
Coach Mark Sangiao recently revealed in a conversation with ONE that the promotional veteran and former foe of Brooks, Lito Adiwang, has been helping devise a gameplan for Pacio:
“We already know how physically strong Brooks is, especially with his wrestling. We’re working hard to defend, counter, and execute the perfect game plan to stop his takedowns. Plus, Lito Adiwang also gave us pointers when he last fought Jarred.”
Despite losing to Brooks, Adiwang shared the circle with him for a round and a half, giving him some insight into Pacio's next challenger.
Make sure to watch top contender Jarred Brooks challenge strawweight champion Joshua Pacio at ONE Championship 164 on December 3 live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
