Mark Sangiao says "explosive and extremely fast" Christian Lee is "a very formidable fighter"

Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao has praised ONE Championship’s lightweight titleholder, ‘The Warrior’ Christian Lee.

In August, Lee avenged his loss to Ok Rae Yoon, winning back his lightweight world championship in the process. Now facing the biggest fight of his career to date, ‘The Warrior’ will move to the division above to challenge Kiamrian Abbasov for the welterweight world championship.

Mark Sangiao gave credit to Lee for the way he responded from his loss to Ok Rae Yoon, having learned from his mistakes and corrected them in their second fight. In an interview with ONE Championship, Sangiao had this to say about the newest competitor shooting for double-champion status:

“I watched his first fight with Ok Rae Yoon and he was definitely winning in the first three rounds. However, he slowed down in the championship rounds and was not pressuring him as he did early on. That was his biggest mistake.”

He added:

“In the rematch, he learned from his mistakes and was aggressive from start to finish. Lee is very explosive and extremely fast, which makes him a very formidable fighter.”

Christian Lee will attempt to become the youngest-ever simultaneous double world champion at ONE on Prime Video 4 when he faces Russia’s Kiamrian Abbasov in the main event on November 18.

Well-respected coach Mark Sangiao has also given his brief thoughts on the main event of ONE on Prime Video 4, Christian Lee vs. Kiamrian Abbasov. The Team Lakay founder and head coach always has valuable opinions and predictions for the big fights due to his extensive experience in the sport.

When asked about Lee vs. Abbasov, Mark Sangiao had this to say:

“This is going to be a huge test for Christian Lee since he’s going up a weight class. We already know his capabilities and we’ve seen his body mature physically as he got older. However, welterweight is unfamiliar territory for him and he’ll be fighting the world champion in his nest right away.”

Lee is looking to become the fourth two-division MMA world champion for ONE, joining Martin Nguyen, Aung La N Sang, and Reinier de Ridder. After winning his lightweight championship back in a rematch with Ok Rae Yoon in August, Lee will move to the weight division above to challenge for the welterweight world championship.

Lee’s opponent at ONE on Prime Video 4 will be Kiamrian Abbasov, who has dominated the division since 2018. This will be Abbasov’s first fight since he fell short trying to achieve the exact thing Christian Lee is aiming for: simultaneous double-champion status.
