Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao believes that his fighter Stephen Loman is well-equipped for the biggest fight of his career yet.
At ONE on Prime Video 4, Loman will face the former longtime king of the bantamweight division, Bibiano Fernandes, in a clash that may have world title implications. Despite the massive difference in experience between the two, Mark Sangiao is confident that his fighter will thrive and can go head-to-head with Fernandes.
Speaking to ONE Championship, Mark Sangiao revealed where he thinks Stephen Loman will gain the advantage in the fight:
“Stephen has always been calm and collected and that’s his biggest advantage. He’s also very well-rounded and can hang with Fernandes in grappling, wrestling, or striking.”

Loman has produced back-to-back wins since signing with ONE Championship, earning himself a No.5-ranking in the bantamweight division. Bibiano Fernandes comes into the fight with a point to prove after having his second world championship reign ended earlier this year by John Lineker in devastating fashion.
Stephen Loman faces Bibiano Fernandes at ONE on Prime Video 4 on November 18, live at US primetime from the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
“We’re prepared to beat him in any way” - Mark Sangiao expecting a tough fight for Stephen Loman against Bibiano Fernandes
‘The Sniper’ Stephen Loman faces the biggest fight of his career to date when he takes on the former two-time bantamweight champion Bibiano Fernandes.
Bibiano Fernandes has become a legend in Asian MMA, signing with ONE Championship in 2012 and going on to become one of the most dominant world champions the promotion has ever seen.
Representing Team Lakay, Stephen Loman is just one fighter in a long line of top talents produced by the famed gym and their head coach and founder, Mark Sangiao.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Mark Sangiao weighed in on his fighter’s opponent at ONE on Prime Video 4:
“We don’t really know what his motivation is, especially after losing his world title to John Lineker. It’s either he’s coming in frustrated or motivated, and we’ll only see that come fight night. Either way, we’re prepared to beat him in any way possible."
Whilst Bibiano Fernandes may be 42 years old, he proved against Lineker that he cannot be disregarded at this point in his career.
If Stephen Loman is able to defeat the long-reigning bantamweight king, he will go up a whole new level in terms of his credibility and place in the division. One way or another, a bantamweight world title challenger will make his case known at ONE on Prime Video 4 on November 18.
