It's safe to say that Marlon 'Chito' Vera is a fan of tattoos; he is nearly entirely covered in ink. The No.4-ranked bantamweight, who is set to make his return to the octagon against Cory Sandhagen in February, recently got a large backpiece done by world-renowned Los Angeles tattoo artist Mister Cartoon.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Vera shared some details about the large back tattoo that harks back to his childhood:
"It’s a big rooster in the middle that represents the fighting and me growing up...going to the rooster fights with my grandfather when I was a little kid. The crazy environment I got to live. There’s a sign of the town I was born, which is Chone, it says, 'Welcome to Chone.'"

He continued:
"Then you start seeing buildings, a clown mask, which is Cartoon’s specialty, and a woman behind the clown. The clown part is me doing all the crazy s**t to be where I am. The woman in the back is the lady that pushed me to be the man I am today. It’s little things like that, and there’s a sign up the street of the first house I bought."
Vera added that he loves the piece and would give it a ten out of ten, which is generally the case with clients of Mister Cartoon. He noted that the piece took three sessions while adding that he still has his entire stomach available for more tattoos.

Marlon 'Chito' Vera is in "no rush" to fight for the bantamweight title
There have been plenty of calls for Marlon 'Chito' Vera to receive a title shot if he is able to defeat Cory Sandhagen at UFC Fight Night 219. Despite this, the No.4-ranked bantamweight shared that he is not guaranteed a title shot with a victory, which is fine with him.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Vera stated:
"Even if I go in there, epic performance, lights out, I won the fight, and I don't get a title shot, I get money. I get money so it's all good... I really believe deep down in my heart I'm gonna be a world champ. I'm in a rush? No, dude, I'm f**king 30 years old. I got my best years ahead of me. Just keep doing what got you here, which is consistency and work."
Despite receiving bonuses in each of his past four fights, Vera acknowledged that the bantamweight title picture is crowded. He shared that he could realistically see himself fighting for the belt in November.
