Former two-division world champions Martin Nguyen and Aung La N Sang have got a great training relationship thanks to their friendship.
In recent months, Aung La has been helping Nguyen stay motivated and focused on the task at hand, leading him to getting back in the win column at ONE Fight Night 7.
For now, the duo's attention has shifted towards the next fight for ‘The Burmese Python’. At ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5, Aung La N Sang will compete at ONE Championship’s debut event in the United States.
Live from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, the former middleweight and light heavyweight world champion will face China’s Fan Rong on an absolutely stacked card.

Aung La always gets a huge crowd reaction wherever he fights and his friend Martin Nguyen believes that this will be no different when he steps inside the circle in Colorado.
In his post-fight interview following ONE Fight Night 7, Nguyen said:
“You don't know how many fans are in Colorado and in the US just alone. There's a lot of Burmese people, and they're only there to support their own, and that's Aung La.”
He added:
“Aung La is the man, and to have him on the card it's going to be huge in Colorado.”
Martin Nguyen reveals Aung La N Sang suggested he change strategy midway through his fight
At ONE Fight Night 7, Martin Nguyen was in desperate need of a win and he made sure to pull out all the stops to make this happen.
After a difficult fight week that saw his opponent change several times, Nguyen was eventually matched up with Brazil’s Leonardo Casotti. Having put so much emphasis on getting his hand raised by any means necessary, Nguyen found himself up against an opponent that he knew very little about.
With a cautious and calculated performance, Nguyen’s overall skill set and experience got him the win. Whilst Casotti was able to land some offense and display his toughness in the fight, it was a strong performance from the former double champion.
In his post-fight interview, Martin Nguyen revealed that his friend and cornerman Aung La N Sang was repeatedly telling him to take the fight to the ground. He said:
“You know me, I like to stand and bang, but Aung was saying take him down from the start of round two because his leg was shot, and he had no stability. For me, he's got the perfect eye, but I just didn't want to use that excess energy because he was still mobile, and I didn't want to shoot in, and he's very explosive.”
He added:
“I didn't want to shoot into a knee or something because that's something I'll do. So I wanted to wait for him to go guns blazing, and we knew in round three that he was going to come out. It had to finish now. Otherwise, I've lost the fight. So he came out of that, and it was a perfect moment to take him down.”
