‘The Situ-Asian’ Martin Nguyen recently explained why having Aung La N Sang working his corner was vital for his success.

The Vietnamese-Austrailian slugger is fresh-off a dominant unanimous decision win against Brazil’s Leonardo Casotti last Friday at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video as a result of Aung La N Sang’s executive coaching and fighting experience.

According to Nguyen, having Aung La’s perspective of where the fight was going in terms of what his opponent might be setting up next was extremely beneficial for the former two-division world champion.

At the post-fight interview, the 33-year-old veteran explained:

“That's amazing. Having someone as experienced as Aung La in the corner is a blessing, and he has that third-eye view. It's me, my opponent, locking on to each other. I can't see everything else, [like] the distance. I have to work it out as I fight and as we move. And he gets to see all of that from the sidelines, having that experience, and having someone to yell at you, saying the right things. It's a blessing.”

Martin Nguyen almost didn’t train for this fight camp at Kill Cliff FC in South Florida had it not been for Aung La’s influence and encouragement. Seeing as how he lost his last fight against Russian powerhouse Ilya Freymanov at ONE on Prime Video 2, ‘The Situ-Asian’ had no other option but to surrender to the process and improve his all-around skillset.

Fortunately, the eight weeks of hard training paid off. At ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video, Nguyen fought with confidence and skill as he put everything on the line to get back into his winning ways. Aside from being ranked at No. 4 in the featherweight division, Martin Nguyen made it loud and clear that he’s back in the running for a top contender spot.

Aung La N Sang says the trip to Thailand with Martin Nguyen was “amazing”

‘The Burmese Python’ Aung La N Sang is thankful to have had an amazing time accompanying Martin Nguyen on his journey to redemption.

Over the last couple of months, Aung La has been glued to Nguyen’s side to prepare him for his featherweight clash against Leonardo Casotti. Grateful to God for the journey they both endured, the MMA icon posted a series of pictures online to show fans that they’re ready to take on their next challenge.

In the caption on Instagram, he wrote:

“What an amazing trip it was with @itsmartiinn to Thailand 🇹🇭. Thank you to our families and our team @killcliff_fc. Time to go home and get ready for the next one. God is good!”

Watch Aung La N Sang’s next firefight against Fan Rong ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, ONE Championship’s first on-site fight card in the United States. The card is set for May 5 at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
