'The Situ-Asian' Martin Nguyen has had a busy schedule across 2022 and 2023, and the Vietnamese-Australian fighter is happy to take a small break. After his most recent victory, the 33-year-old Nguyen is not rushing back into the ONE circle.
In his last three matches in ONE Championship, Nguyen has earned a 2-1 record on top of two opponent changes. Coming off a disappointing loss to Ilya Freymanov, he was looking to get back in the win column. The Kill Cliff FC-trained fighter was able to do just that at ONE Fight Night 7. Martin Nguyen earned a dominant unanimous decision win over Brazil's Leonardo Casotti.
As for what's next for the former two-division world champion, Nguyen explained that a little time away would be ideal. While speaking in an interview with Nicolas Atkin of the South China Morning Post MMA, 'The Situ-Asian' explained:
"Call my shot, I just wanna have a break man. A mental break with my family then when I come back, anyone can get it."

To prepare for the ONE Fight Night 7 match, Nguyen left his family in Australia and flew to the opposite side of the world to train in the USA. At the Kill Cliff FC training facility, 'The Situ-Asian' trained alongside fighters such as 'The Burmese Python' Aung La N Sang.
Martin Nguyen on the benefits of training away from home
It was not an easy situation for the 'The Situ-Asian' to leave his wife and children behind to train across the globe. However, such a decision comes with tons of benefits. Ahead of his ONE Fight Night 7 showdown, Nguyen spoke to ONE Championship in an interview and said:
“Yeah, the beauty of it is I get no distractions over here. I can just focus on training. Eat, sleep, and train, eat, sleep, and train."
He continued:
"Just the environment is different, and the coaches' energy is different. Everything is different when you come over here. You know you're going in and you know you're going to get good work every single day."
There was no distractions and only gym time for Martin Nguyen in Florida, USA. It clearly worked as he walked away with a much-needed victory last week.
