At ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video, Martin Nguyen will face Shamil Gasanov in a battle between two high-ranked featherweight contenders.
Both men are in very different places in their careers. While the undefeated Gasanov is looking for his biggest win to date, Nguyen has been at the pinnacle of the sport in his tenured career.
The former two-division world champion has struggled for consistency in recent years. Going into this fight, he is approaching it like any other.
Despite the stakes attached to this fight that could see either man position themselves for a huge fight next time around, Martin Nguyen is solely focused on stepping inside the circle on February 24 and getting the job done.

In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘The Situ-Asian’ spoke about what a win over Shamil Gasanov would mean for him:
“I don't really know, man. I don't really care, to be honest, a win is a win for me. And whoever I fight next is just one step closer to getting my title back. That's the main focus.”
Nguyen’s relaxed approach to this fight shows how he can draw on his experience to give him an advantage over the undefeated Russian standing across from him.
Whilst he may be understating the importance of this fight, there is no denying that handing Gasanov his first loss would be a huge step for Nguyen in trying to claim back the featherweight world championship.
ONE Fight Night 7 will be broadcast live and for free to fans in North America via Prime Video in U.S. primetime on February 24.
Martin Nguyen looking forward to ‘experiencing’ America if he makes US card
Despite his sole focus being to leave ONE Fight Night 7 on February 24 with a win, Martin Nguyen has got one eye on another upcoming event.
ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, scheduled for May 5, will be historic for ONE Championship as the promotion hosts its first-ever event in the United States. Live from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, Martin Nguyen hopes that after his upcoming fight, he may be able to feature on the U.S. card.
In an interview with ONE Championship, he said:
"I'll probably make a holiday out of it afterward, finally. Every single time I've stepped foot in the US has always been in training camps or something for business. I never really had a chance to travel around and experience it. America."
Whilst he is optimistic that he will get this huge opportunity, ‘The Situ-Asian’ knows he will be involved in the event in one way or another.
He continued:
"So, if it does happen, then I'll take it with both hands. But if it doesn't, then I still won't be mad. I'll still probably be here in fight camp and probably flying over there watching it live. So, you'll never know."
