Martin Nguyen is no stranger to being on top. As ONE Championship’s first-ever two-division world champion, ‘The Situ-Asian’ has already etched his name in the history books, but despite some recent woes inside the Circle, Nguyen is thankful to continue competing against the best fighters in the world.
Nguyen will once again grace fans with his presence this Friday night when ONE Championship heads to the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand for ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video. Ahead of his return to action, Nguyen shared his appreciation for being able to share the stage with the greatest fighters in the world after nearly a decade under the ONE banner:
“That there, obviously, is the motivation. But for me to be able to compete at the highest level, with the elite, that's what I'm grateful about [as well as] the accolades that come with it.”
Martin Nguyen’s finish-or-get-finished style of fighting has always guaranteed an exciting night for fans to watch from around the world, but that method of fighting has not served ‘The Situ-Asian’ well as of late. Nguyen has lost three of his last four bouts, all coming by way of knockout.

In order to keep his ONE world title aspirations alive, he’ll need to deliver a statement when he welcomes undefeated newcomer Razhab Shaydullaev at ONE Fight Night 7 on Friday night.
Aung La N Sang knows all about the struggles that Martin Nguyen is facing
Up until recently, Aung La N Sang was in the exact same position Martin Nguyen found himself in, losing three of his last four bouts. With his back against the wall, Aung La bit down on his mouthpiece and climbed back into contention with back-to-back first-round knockouts against Yushin Okami and Gilberto Galvao.
Speaking with The MMA Superfan, Aung La still believes that Martin Nguyen holds the power to put out anyone’s light at any time inside the circle.
"That’s one of the aspects that is in mixed martial arts that you might neglect when you’re only sparring boxers... A fight’s a fight. Anything can happen. If Martin can land his right hand, he can knock anybody out too."
‘The Burmese Python’ continued, saying:
"It’s up and downs, up and downs. When you get to the top it’s hard to stay at the top. Everybody’s coming after you."
Fans in North America can watch the return of Martin Nguyen to the circle together with the rest of ONE Fight Night 7 live and for free with an Amazon Prime Video subscription in U.S. primetime this Friday night.
