Former ONE champ Martin Nguyen knows how important his next fight is, even claiming that every fight from here on out is a must-win.
'The Situ-Asian' began his ONE Championship tenure with a 7-1 record, winning a pair of world titles along the way. However, Nguyen has been struggling as of late, losing three of his last four fights.
Martin Nguyen is well aware of how much the results of his next fight will impact the trajectory of his career. He told the promotion:
"I feel that I only have one chance and one chance only. So every bout that I have and every bout that I get from here on has to be important. If I want that title shot bad enough, it’s just up to me to perform."

Originally slated to take on unbeaten Russian Shamil Gasanov at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video, Nguyen is now scheduled to face Kyrgyzstan’s Razhab Shaydullaev after 'The Cobra' was forced to withdraw from the bout.
Martin Nguyen admits to slacking off in prepartion for his last fight
Surprisingly, the former champ recently revealed that he got lazy in preparing for his last fight against Ilya Freymanov. Nguyen admitted to ONE:
“Where Kill Cliff is just, you go at the coach’s pace, you don’t go your own pace, everything’s offset there. And there are high-level fighters that keep up with me as well. So I kind of slacked off on the laziness side on my end, and I paid the ultimate price. So 2022, man, it sucks to end the year like that. But yeah, it’s a big eye-opener for me.”
Nguyen appears to be laser-focused heading into this crossroads bout at ONE Fight Night 7. His upcoming opponent is making his promotional debut—and like Nguyen said—this is an absolute must-win fight.
Be sure to tune in to ONE Fight Night 7 on February 24 to watch former two-division champ Martin Nguyen take on Razhab Shaydullaev, live from the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The entire event is live and free in North America via Prime Video.
