Former two-division ONE world champion Martin Nguyen is excited to see ONE Championship make its long-awaited debut in the United States.
Last year, the promotion announced that it would be heading to North America for the first time on May 5 for ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. Emanating from the 1stBank Center in Colorado, the event will be headlined by a ONE flyweight world title trilogy bout between reigning champion Demetrious Johnson and former titleholder Adriano Moraes.
Asked about the promotion’s impending debut in the U.S., Nguyen told ONE:
“You know, any step that ONE Championship has from here on is huge. Chatri is obviously leading the way and opening doors and opportunities and platforms for us fighters. It's always going to be better and better and better every single time.”

While ONE’s United States debut is still a couple of months away, ‘The Situ-Asian’ will be back in action on February 24 at ONE Fight Night 7, which is live and free on Amazon Prime.
After dropping three of his last four bouts by way of knockout, Martin Nguyen is desperate for a win. However, he could have a tough time finding one as he meets undefeated Russian standout Shamil Gasanov.
Gasanov wowed fans in his promotional debut last October, scoring a first-round submission of Kim Jae Woong at ONE on Prime Video 3.
Martin Nguyen taking things one step at a time as he heads into ONE Fight Night 7
Martin Nguyen is one of the most prolific finishers in ONE Championship history, with 11 victories inside the circle and a staggering 91% finish rate. A fan favorite dating back to his promotional debut nearly a decade ago, Nguyen has experienced both the highs and lows of a lengthy combat sports career.
In an interview with SCMP MMA, Nguyen shared his uncertainty over the future. He’s simply taking things one step at a time and enjoying the ride while it lasts:
“I don’t know what the future holds. I’m just going to take it as it comes and I’m grateful to be able to set foot in the ring, in the circle, and to represent my brand and inspire a lot of people in the ONE Championship platform. One step at a time and we’ll go from there.”

In 2017, ‘The Situ-Asian’ scored back-to-back knockouts against Marat Gafurov and Eduard Folayang to capture the ONE featherweight and lightweight world championships, becoming the first two-division champion in the promotion’s history.
No matter what happens at ONE Fight Night 7 and beyond, Martin Nguyen will forever be a ONE Championship legend.
