Matt Brown reacted to a social media post claiming Conor McGregor shouldn't have been ruled guilty.

Earlier this week, McGregor was ruled in a civil lawsuit as liable for assault, leading to an overall payment of $258,300 to Nikita Hand.

Hand sued the former two-division UFC and his friend, James Lawrence, for a December 2018 incident after Ireland's Director of Public Prosecutions claimed that their wasn't enough evidence to warrant a criminal trial.

Since then, McGregor's guilty verdict has become widely controversial. Many people have supported the jury's decision, while others claim Hand's inconsistencies throughout her testimony have been suspicious.

Keith Woods, a writer and content creator, took to X and posted a handful of reasons why Hand shouldn't be trusted. Retired UFC fighter Matt Brown reacted to Woods' theory by asking his followers for their opinions:

"Damn ok then what’s the truth here? Conor is definitely no saint but is this case bs?"

Matt Brown announced his retirement from mixed martial arts earlier this year, ending his 43-fight run in the professional ranks. He walked away with a UFC record of 17-13, including fifteen finishes.

Conor McGregor plans to appeal guilty verdict

Conor McGregor claimed during his recent civil trial that he had a consensual sexual relationship with Nikita Hand. Following his guilty verdict, the former two-division UFC champion announced in a since-deleted message on X that he doesn't plan on stopping his fight to prove he's innocent:

"I will be appealing today's decision. The judge's instruction and the modest award given was for assault, not for aggravated it exemplary damages. I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence that the DDP reviewed. I am with my family now, focused on my future. Thank you to all my support worldwide."

McGregor hasn't fought in the UFC since enduring a first-round TKO loss against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. The 36-year-old attempted to make his highly-anticipated octagon return earlier this year before suffering a broken toe. Dana White has since claimed McGregor will fight again in late 2025.
