However, Oliveira is interested in facing Holloway for the BMF title, if not Makhachev. Combat sports news outlet Championship Rounds posted the 35-year-old's remarks:

"We'll have to see when [Makhachev] will want to come back. If he only wants to fight in October, I definitely want to fight before that, so why not challenge Max Holloway for the BMF belt? We met before, but I suffered an injury right in the beginning, so there wasn't an actual fight. I think we deserve to make this fight happen."

This prompted a reaction from Holloway, who suggested their rematch take place during International Fight Week, which is typically set for late June or early July in Las Vegas.

Holloway and Oliveira notably squared off nearly a decade ago, back when they were rising featherweight contenders. They headlined a Fight Night event in Saskatoon, Canada. However, their bout reached an unfortunate end as 'do Bronx' suffered a neck injury in the very first round.

Max Holloway's first knockout loss in professional MMA came against Ilia Topuria for the featherweight title at UFC 308 last year.

When asked about Topuria's performance in an interview with Full Violence, Charles Oliveira revealed that prior to UFC 308, he envisioned the Spaniard knocking out Holloway, considering the reigning featherweight champion's improvement as a fighter.

The former lightweight champion said:

''When I was talking about it with my friends, I said that [Ilia] Topuria could knock out [Max Holloway], because he is a guy who is on the rise, he is really tough, he is a guy who has been growing a lot, and for me he would win by knockout."
