Outside of her personal life and inside the octagon, Barber is quickly becoming one of the most feared contenders in her division. After losing back-to-back fights in 2020 and 2021, her first professional losses, 'The Future' has since bounced back.

The 26-year-old has gone on to win her next six fights in a row, while earning a performance bonus for her efforts against Amanda Ribas. She was then set to face Rose Namajunas back in June, however, some health issues forced her out of the fight.

Now seemingly back in full health, Maycee Barber is expected to return to action in early 2025. Whilst no opponent has been confirmed, she will be hoping that one more win is enough to earn a first shot at the women's flyweight title, currently held by Valentina Shevchenko.

Maycee Barber shares health update and reveals timeline for return to action

Maycee Barber recently provided fans an update on her health as well as outlined when she plans to step back into the octagon.

Speaking on a recent episode of Morning Kombat, 'The Future' stated that it's been a "long journey" to get back to full health but she expects to be back fighting in April 2025. She said:

"Everything's going great now. It has been a long journey. I was so bummed [for being forced out of the Namajunas bout]. It would have been my first main event...I was so devastated when I was told I wouldn't be fighting on the card but you know, health is more important."

Barber continued:

"I was very devastated but I have made a lot of progress coming forward and I can't wait to be back. I was just messaging with Mick [Maynard] and Hunter [Campbell] called me as well. I'm hoping for April. I know it's a little ways out but that's the timeline I was given. Originally I thought it would be July/August next year but it looks like it's gonna be April."
