Reigning and undisputed ONE women's atomweight submission grappling world champion Mayssa Bastos of Brazil went into the first fight with former divisional queen Danielle Kelly expecting little resistance.
After all, Bastos owned every advantage, from accolades to experience. The only thing missing was ONE Championship gold, which Kelly possessed. But when the two took to the canvas at ONE Fight Night 24, Bastos was met with one of the toughest tests of her career.
Ultimately, the 27-year-old Art of Jiu-Jitsu Academy product would take home the unanimous decision win and the gold. But Bastos was quick to give props to her opponent.

Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Bastos had this to say about her American counterpart:
"I thought I fought well, but there were some adjustments missing. I managed to land some finishing attacks, but I needed a little more adjustment to get the submission. What surprised me was that she was a little more aggressive than I was expecting."
Needless to say, Bastos is coming into their rematch with a more robust game plan, now that she has experienced what Kelly brings to the ring.
A second victory over Kelly will solidify Bastos' reign as the queen of the atomweights.
