Both Mayssa Bastos and Danielle Kelly are approaching their rematch with a similar mentality.

The two women are elite submission grapplers who are used to being one step ahead of their opponents which allows them to break defenses down and find submissions.

In their first meeting at ONE Fight Night 24 in August, neither was able to get the finish but we did see the gold change hands as Bastos won the contest by a unanimous decision to become the new ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion.

Bastos now plans on improving upon this performance by pushing and testing Kelly more in order to force her to be more active and respond to higher output.

The Brazilian champion spoke in a recent interview with ONE Championship about why she has decided to take this approach despite coming out on top the first time they met at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand:

"What I can say is that I intend to be a little more aggressive in this fight and make her expose herself more, because she will start to make a few more mistakes and then the gaps will appear."

Danielle Kelly has the same goal as Mayssa Bastos

Mayssa Bastos isn't the only one who wants to be more aggressive in her rematch with Danielle Kelly at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6.

The former divisional queen believes that to reclaim her title, she needs to push more than she did in their first encounter.

Kelly proved that she belongs at this level in their previous meeting and she now has the confidence to open up more and really take the fight to Bastos.

With both women saying the same thing, we can expect a more intense clash in their rematch where Bastos will try to keep hold of the gold.
