Mayssa Bastos says she and Danielle Kelly will “be very focused” on securing a submission finish in world title rematch

Mayssa Bastos believes she and Danielle Kelly are fully capable of putting on an absolute show-stealer in their second world title matchup.

The Brazilian superstar will defend the ONE atomweight submission grappling world title against Kelly at ONE Fight Night 26 on Friday, US primetime, at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Bastos said she expects nothing but pure aggression when she defends the gold against the former world champion in their world title rematch.

Mayssa Bastos added that she would match Kelly's aggression and said a submission finish is inevitable in their second meeting.

"This time I see this fight ending in a submission. I think we'll both be very focused on making that happen, on making a better fight."

Bastos first faced Kelly at ONE Fight Night 24 to challenge for the ONE atomweight submission grappling world title.

The two BJJ superstars put on a certified nail-biter and fans still argue that either woman deserved the world title win in their drama-filled first encounter.

Bastos ultimately secured the unanimous decision win after a clutch submission catch to capture the ONE atomweight submission grappling world title.

Things could hit a pivotal turn with Kelly now the one chasing the gold and Bastos the one defending the throne she took from the American star.

"In order for me not to be surprised, I need to be attentive at all times during the fight. I need to be very focused. I have no way of knowing what she will be thinking about doing during the fight, so I need to focus a lot on the present moment of the fight to do well and not be surprised."
