Mayssa Bastos and Danielle Kelly had one of the most closely contested world title fights in ONE Championship this year, and the reigning world champion wants to build on that performance for a more convincing world title defense.
Bastos will defend her throne against Kelly at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6, US primetime, at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Bastos said she wants to make major adjustments to the game plan she used when she challenged Kelly for the strap at ONE Fight Night 24 in August this year.
Bastos secured a unanimous decision win over Kelly, which some fans believe could've gone either way.

She said:
"I’m very focused on making adjustments to finish the fight because that’s my goal. I want to go out there, put on a show for the fans, and come out with the victory.”
Mayssa Bastos, a nine-time IBJJF world champion, challenged Kelly for the ONE atomweight submission grappling world title in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 24.
The match still had breathtaking moments, especially when both fighters exchanged submission catches throughout the 10-minute duel.
Bastos' aggression, however, proved crucial in the judges' eyes to become the new ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion via unanimous decision and also hand Kelly her first defeat in ONE Championship.
The Brazilian superstar now looks to uphold her reign in the division, with her world title defense against Kelly and the entire ONE Fight Night 26 card available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Mayssa Bastos on the massive importance of capturing a ONE world title
Mayssa Bastos is used to taking world titles and filling her trophy cabinet with them, but the one she captured at ONE Fight Night 24 in Bangkok carried more prestige than the ones she had before.
During her post-fight interview after she beat Danielle Kelly, Bastos said the ONE atomweight submission grappling world title practically sealed her legacy as a professional BJJ artist.
She said:
"It's special because I'm the first Brazilian to ever win [the ONE grappling title], especially because it was a title that I did not have yet, and also [it's] for my legacy. So I think that's it."
