The UFC's pound-for-pound rankings have been a hot topic lately, with Dana White advocating for Jon Jones and fans backing Islam Makhachev. UFC host Megan Olivi offered her unique perspective on the issue.
In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Olivi acknowledged the appeal of the P4P list but questioned its consistency:
"I don't put that much talk into the rankings in general anymore. From pound-for-pound to each division, I feel like there's always all these different arguments sometimes really odd things happen..."
While acknowledging the appeal of the P4P system, Olivi highlighted the inconsistency caused by fighter activity levels. She explained:

"I absolutely love the concept of it but I think when we're having athletes fight [Alex Pereira] twice in eight weeks and then we're having other people not fight for an entire calendar year it's kind of tricky like do they do they keep keep that spot. um and also on the flips side why should they be punished just because they got injured or they haven't been booked or their opponent um wants to fight on a specific date so that one's really tricky for me.”

Megan Olivi reveals her best UFC Fight of 2024 so far
With the UFC halfway through its 2024 schedule, Megan Olivi, alongside MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn in the same interview, recapped the first half's most exciting moments in the promotion. When asked about the standout fight, Olivi chose Dustin Poirier's thrilling encounter with Benoit Saint Denis.
"If I have to pick one, I hope I don't get a lot of backlash for this but I love Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit Saint Denis. I thought that the first round was so intriguing and we all knew that this was a huge test for Dustin Poirier.''
Poirier edged out Saint Denis via second-round knockout in a thrilling co-main event at UFC 299 back in March. The fight's intensity and back-and-forth action earned it 'Fight of the Night' honors.
