An intriguing featherweight matchup between Julian Erosa and Fernando Padilla has been added to the UFC Vegas 72 fight card.
After earning his UFC contract on Dana White: Lookin' for a Fight, Padilla has been waiting for his promotional debut since October 2021. The time has finally come as the Mexican-born fighter has been booked against Erosa, a UFC veteran. Marcel Dorff confirmed the fight announcement on Twitter by saying:
“Julian Erosa will fight Fernando Padilla at #UFCVegas72 on April 29th. (per @CCLegaspi) #UFC #MMA #UFCESPN #UFC2023”
Padilla made his pro-MMA debut in April 2015, winning his first six fights, including five in the first round. After losing to Dan Ige at CFFC 64, the Mexican-born fighter bounced back with four more wins. He then suffered a setback after losing back-to-back bouts in 2018. The 26-year-old won four of his next five fights to earn his UFC contract at Fury FC 46.

Meanwhile, Erosa has 38 professional MMA fights under his belt at the age of 33. He started his career with a record of 14-2, leading to his appearance on The Ultimate Fighter Season 22. ‘Juicy J’ went 1-1 in the UFC before parting ways with the promotion for eight fights.
Since re-joining the UFC in 2018, the American featherweight continues to put on entertaining fights. Erosa now holds an overall promotional record of 6-6, with his last fight being a first-round loss against Alex Caceres. He is now looking to get back on track against Padilla.
