UFC Women’s flyweight champion Alexa Grasso has said that she will be in attendance to see Canelo Alvarez vs. John Ryder in Jalisco, but might be a bit too shy to bring her new championship belt with her to the fight.
While speaking to Marc Raimondi of ESPN MMA, Grasso spoke about attending Canelo’s fight and her hopes of training with the multi-weight world champion boxer. When asked if she will be in Jalisco for the fight, she said:
“Of course I will. Yeah I’m a big fan of him. I’m so shy to be taking the belt everywhere, like no!! It’s weird, I’m a champion without the belt! I hope I can meet him [Canelo] and I truly hope I can train with him. I need him to give me some advices, that would be really really cool.

Alexa Grasso became the first Mexican female champion after an upset victory against the dominant flyweight women’s champion Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 285 on March 5.
The 29-year-old flyweight champion spoke about her shocking victory and the possibility of an immediate rematch in an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour show, where she said:
“I’m truly, truly excited for the second fight. And I also know that people will love to see that, because a lot of people say that it was a mistake from her and that it was a fluke. Of course I don’t think it was a fluke because I trained so much for that winning, but yeah. I think it’s gonna be important to show everyone that yeah, I am the champion.”
