Jon Jones' return to the octagon at UFC 285 is a good time to reflect on one of his best performances inside the octagon. Jones' light heavyweight showdown against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165 was arguably one of the best fights in that weight class.

The fight was immortalized after it was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame's Fight Wing in 2021.

The brutal bout had dire consequences for 'Bones' in its aftermath. In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping delved into the details:

“Jon Jones’ coach had to wipe his own a** after he fought Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165... It was a sensational fight. Both men went back and forth, one of the best fights of that year. Apparently though, Jones said, he didn’t even train for that fight. Apparently, he was partying, sticking things up his nose. But he showed up because he was so complacent, he was so used to winning, so used to just going through all the competition that he never really trained and he still went out there and put on a performance of his life.”

Bisping also joked that he would not be as gracious as Jones' coach in a similar situation:

“Some of the stuff that fighters have to endure like being so beaten up in a fight that you can’t even wipe your own a**. Shoutout to his coach for that one, because I’ll tell you what, I ain’t wiping another man’s a**hole. No way, I don’t care how much you pay me!”

Francis Ngannou gives his prediction for Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane

Former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou left behind his title without ever losing it inside the octagon. While the Cameroonian still believes he is the champion, he was on hand to predict the outcome for the upcoming UFC 285 main event.

In an interview with 'The Schmo', Ngannou stated that the fight result depended on Jones' approach and speculated whether the two would go the distance:

"It depends which Jon Jones is going to be there. If Jon Jones shows up, this fight can be a TKO. I think he's gonna take [Gane] down, wrestle and some ground and pound. But it can go the distance if Jon Jones fights defensively. Because then both of them will be defensive fighters. Then it can go the distance."
