Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier had another spat on social media recently with Dan Hooker getting caught in the middle of it all. The former multiple-time Bellator lightweight champion was responding to a clip recently posted on X as Chandler reflected on his win over Hooker in the present context of 'The Hangman' entering the top five at lightweight.
The X account @MMAUnderrated shared a clip of the Chandler vs. Hooker fight from January 2021, which ended with Chandler earning a first-round KO. Retweeting the clip of his UFC 257 performance in what was his promotional debut, Chandler stated:
"KO of the #5 ranked guy who had just went 25 min with the #2 ranked guy in a FOTN...but I ain't done nothing..."
The man who headlined UFC 257 in his rematch against Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier responded to 'Iron' by retweeting him saying:

"Shut up, I got wins over the #3, #5, #6, #9, and #12 LWs."

Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, Dan Hooker, and how they're all intertwined
Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier are both familiar competitively with the surging Dan Hooker as was referenced in their pair of tweets solely addressing present rankings at 155 pounds. Poirier, Hooker, and Chandler cover the number four through six ranking spots at lightweight as of this writing.
As was mentioned earlier, Chandler knocked out Dan Hooker when he put him away at the 2:30 mark of the opening round. This came after a left hook with a torrent of ground and pound thereafter. That would put Hooker on a two-fight skid, having already lost to Dustin Poirier before his throwdown with Chandler.
Hooker and Poirier would collide in a June 2020 UFC Fight Night headliner that saw the latter garner a unanimous decision win. This was a true classic as both men showed tremendous heart and skill over 25 minutes which is the bout Chandler referenced towards the tail end of his recent tweet.
After this pair of bouts, the final permutation of this lightweight trifecta would then take place. Chandler and Poirier would collide at UFC 281 in November 2022 with 'The Diamond' finishing 'Iron' Michael with a rear naked choke submission in the third round.
This is Chandler's last professional MMA bout, at this juncture. He continues to wait out a blockbuster bout against Conor McGregor. The two were opposing coaches on 'The Ultimate Fighter Season 31' and had a scrapped UFC 303 bout in June this year after McGregor sustained a toe injury.
